Tillandsia Epinosae

Tillandsia Espinosae is a small, slow-growing air plant from Ecuador and Peru with a look that’s anything but ordinary. Its stiff, pointed, gray-green leaves are lightly frosted with trichomes and grow into distinctive star-shaped rosettes.

What makes Espinosae especially fun is the way it produces pups. Rather than growing right beside the mother plant, it sends out long, thin runners called stolons, with baby plants developing along them. The result is a quirky little cluster of “floating” pups around the mother plant as it grows.

When it flowers, Espinosae produces a bright red floral spike with delicate pink and violet flowers — a beautiful pop of colour against its frosty gray-green foliage.

This is a great choice if you enjoy Tillandsias with unusual growth habits and a little more personality. It may be small, but Espinosae definitely stands out!
